MASTER ELECTRICIAN
In addition to being a lighting designer, I am also a passionate electrician, and it is my belief that to be a good designer, one must be a good electrician. I enjoying building practicals and hanging lights just as much as I enjoy designing them.

THE FANTASTICKS - HAND BUILT STRING LIGHTS
The scenic designer originally wanted to hang strings of paper flags to create the shape of a circus tent, but we both worried they would block too much light and blow around in the air conditioning currents. We compromised by using colorful strings of bare bulbs (that took twenty dimmers) to create the same look, but allowed me to program color chases and effects.

YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN - LED TAPE
The scenic and lighting designers decided to line the false proscenium with LED tape. I was fortunate enough to be charged with the majority of the installation and programming.

GABRIEL: A POLEMIC - PRACTICALS, TAILDOWNS, AND MOVING MIRROS
In this show, I worked with a variety of practicals that included store bought appliances to scratch made rigs. In addition to the many lamps and sconces, I also installed two twenty-foot taildown pipes upstage of the plaster line. This allowed me to hang eight ellipsoidal lights with cloud gobos and moving mirrors to create 90 minutes of sunset. These taildowns are now permanent installations.

IN THE NEXT ROOM - BARE BULBS AND HOUSE LIGHTS
To show the interior of a house at the dawn of electricity, I designed and built a rig of over one hundred lightbulbs to hang above the set. I designed another system that ran the perimeter of the stage to make house lights that matched the look of the set.

RECKLESS - PRACTICALS
I worked with the scenic designer to make the stage look like an elaborate Christmas light display. Additionally, I had to be sure that every piece could be set and struck in the ten-minute gaps between the previous and subsequent shows.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM - WATERPROOF LEDS
The director wanted to create a lush, tropical jungle, complete with magical springs with running water. I lit these with waterproof LEDs.
